walkingtom.com                Viewing Tips
This site is best viewed with the newest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.  Using older versions or other web browsers may cause the text to overlap in parts and images to appear in all kinds of places that were not intended.  You can download the latest free versions of Explorer or Netscape by clicking respectively on the links provided and following the site's directions.

But, you say, "I am using a fairly new web browser, the text is still overlapping all over the pictures, and I can't read your site."  This most likely means that your diplay is not set to read the small fonts that are on the pages, but it can be.  To set your computer to display small fonts:

1. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen.
2. Move the mouse over Settings.
3. Click Control Panel.
4. Double-click on the Display icon.
5. Click the Settings tab to bring it to the front.
6. From the Font Size drop-down box, choose Small Fonts.

You may need to restart your computer before the new font size will go into effect.

But, you say, "When I read your pages, I have to scroll back and forth horizontally, and it drives me crazy."  This only means that your display has been set to have a desktop area of less than 800 pixels wide.  To set your compuer to have a larger desktop area:

1. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen.
2. Move the mouse over Settings.
3. Click Control Panel.
4. Double-click on the Display icon.
5. Click the Settings tab to bring it to the front.
6. Adjust the Desktop Area level up to "800 by 600" or "1024 by 768"

You may need to restart your computer before the new desktop area will go into effect.

But, you say, "I am using a computer at the public library or at school, and they have it locked down so tight that people like myself can't get into the control panel to adjust the settings."  I use library computers all the time, and I feel your pain.  All you can do in this situation is adjust the particular web browser's font settings.  On Internet Explorer, this can be done by clicking on "View" at the top of your screen, selecting "Fonts," and then choosing a smaller size.  If you are using Netscape Navigator, the font size can be adjusted by clicking on "View" at the top of your screen, and selecting "Decrease Font" until everything lines up, or you can use the shortcut (Ctrl-[ ) to achieve the same results.
